Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Monroe Plan for Medical Care

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are embedded in the Monroe Plan for Medical Care’s Mission to reduce health care disparities for the underserved.  Our culture is built on this same foundation of embracing the power of diversity, continually working to ensure equity, and recognizing, respecting, and valuing differences.

At Monroe Plan for Medical Care, we value diversity and promote equity and inclusion. These actions are the very heart of our Mission and integral to the work we do everyday. Throughout our 50 plus year history, we have remained steadfastly dedicated to reducing health care disparaties for underserved populations. We partner with health care providers and community based organizations to deliver our holistic approach to each member, and develop population health initiatives that are aimed towards addressing social determinants of health and clinical care. We are proud of the positive impact that we have made by improving the quality of care for the communites we serve while recognizing there is still significant work to be done.  

Monroe Plan for Medical Care’s comittment to diversity, equity and inclusion extends to our workforce. We intentionally built, and strive to maintain, a culture in which inclusiveness and respect for all is paramount. We strive to employ a team of individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences and beliefs.  

Monroe Plan for Medical Care is dedicated to furthering the important social causes of diversity, equity and inclusion by continuing to advocate for and improve access to quality health care for all.  

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee

Monroe Plan for Medical Care has an active, employee led committee whose purpose is to support cross-functional, multi-level discussion related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The DEI Committee will support the continuous improvement and promotion of Monroe Plan’s DEI program with specific responsibilities that include:

  • Advising on and piloting Monroe Plan’s internal DEI training and education programs;
  • Providing feedback on policies and practice initiatives that may support DEI efforts;
  • Providing feedback regarding internal messaging related to DEI efforts;
  • Discussing how to continuously improve DEI within Monroe Plan;
  • Serving as champions for DEI at Monroe Plan by modeling inclusive behaviors and encouraging peers to engage in DEI efforts.
